The Tampa Bay Access Exchange is a neutral Internet exchange fabric serving the Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to keep local traffic local. It’s common for traffic between networks in the same facility transits to Miami or Atlanta and back. This adds latency, and costs to backhaul data twice.
TBAX provides a public shared peering fabric, and private interconnect services to our members. There are no restrictions, other than technical, of peering customer traffic across the IX Fabric.
TBAX supports several port speeds for interconnection. We typically run O-band 1310nm optics, but can support others if needed.
* 40g port speed is sunset for new locations due to newer equipment not supporting it.
TBAX has connectivity available in the major retail datacenters serving Tampa.
We are open to expanding subject to an anchor member and backhaul availability.
